Internship Opportunity with Dept. of Medicine and Withings
In collaboration with the Department of Medicine and consumer health device company, Withings, we are happy to offer a unique internship opportunity for a motivated BSc (Bioinformatics) student to gain work experience in a clinical trial setting.
The clinical trial aims to assess the use of smart blood pressure monitors to diagnose a range of heart diseases, such as chronic rheumatic heart disease (CRHD) and mitral stenosis (MS), which have a higher prevalence in Hong Kong.
As an intern, you will be involved in every aspect of the trial, from the ethics application and obtaining patient consent to data acquisition, analysis, and manuscript preparation. Throughout the semester (Jan – Apr 2024), you will contribute to trial preparation activities like protocol design and ethics application and gain familiarity with the device API, with the trial scheduled during the summer months (May – Aug 2024).
In addition to invaluable experience, a nominal stipend will be provided to support you during both the semester and summer months.
Please express your interest by contacting Dr Jason Wong <jwhwong@hku.hk> before the 12th of January 2024. If you have any questions, please contact Dr Wong for more information.
