WCLUSTAG is, in fact, an extended tag-SNP
selection procedure that allows users to specify
variable
thresholds for markers based on their genomic regions or
personal knowledge of genotyped SNPs. A SNP with specified
threshold C will have a minimum R
2 of C with at least
one of the tag-SNPs. This feature is useful for geneticists
and researchers who wish to
prioritize genomic regions in
an association study, and to
optimize study design under
budgetary constraints.
